Thierryno Gangou 457 band leader and composer Thierryno discovered his passion for music as an enthusiastic seven year old piano student. He soon formed his first band becoming an experienced pianist, and singer by eighteen, eager to embark on a professional career travelling the world. Throughout the late 80’s , his five-piece band played extensively at venues such as La Veranda Hotel, Royal Palm Hotel, Blue Lagoon Hotel, and Le Touesrok Hotel in his native land of Mauritius. In 1993 he toured Singapore, performing at prestigious venues such as the Raffles hotel, Djakarta, Sari Pan Pacific hotel and the Regent hotel in Malaysia.
In 2000, Thierryno moved to Dubai with his acoustic 4-piece band named The Creole Stars in which he was the band leader, pianist and singer. They held residencies at the prestigious Burj Al Arab and Al Muntaha. During this period, the band performed a special show for the Princess of Brunei and Nelson Mandella and ended the year with a residency in the Royal Mirage hotel at The Beach Restaurant.
Now based in Perth, Thierryno has worked with many well known bands over the years, such as the Grace Barbe Afro -Kreol band, continuing to develop his fresh world fusion style and performing in big festivals around Australia such Byron Bay Blues and Roots and the Fairbridge festival . Thierry continues his long term residencies around town as a soloist and with various ensembles and enjoys composing for 457.
Mike began playing clarinet aged eleven, picking up the saxophone at fifteen. He studied Jazz Performance at WAAPA and has performed in a variety of settings including small jazz ensembles, Big Bands, Cocktail Bar Trios, Commercial Bands and Brazilian Jazz. As an accomplished improviser and reader, Mike has accompanied many touring acts including Marcia Hines, Grace Night, Glen Shorrock, Dale Barlow, Tom Burlinson, James Morrison, Rhonda Burchmore, and Tony Schilder.
Vince Pavitt was born in Durban, South Africa.
Vince took music lessons at school experimenting with bass guitar and piano and later a few lessons with Berklee College graduate Mike Mazzoni.
Vince enjoys playing jazz adapting his style to incorporate all types of music especially some tasty African feels which he applies comfortably. He became involved with American saxophonist Chris Mertz a student of the legendary Yusef Lateef and engaged in many jazz projects at the Natal University.
Vince has done television and recording work and appears on many artists CD recordings.
Vince currently resides in Perth and has done some gigging in and around town. He still looks forward to a good gig and improving his knowledge and sharing in the art form
Sarah is a double bassist and electric bassist from
Perth, Western Australia. Having recently graduated from the Jazz Honours course at the West Australian
Academy of Performing Arts, she performs regularly with a variety of different groups around Perth.
