Catarina Garcia (1986) Freelance Artist and Illustrator. Born in 1986, I live and work between two places: Lisbon and Lourinhã. My passion for drawing has started since a young age. I wanted to be an animator when I was a child so I drew everyday with that goal in mind. I'm drawn to draw people maybe because I tend to like subjects related to the humanities. From the beginning, my work has always featured figure drawing as a starting point with composition being of a singular importance. What interests me more in art is the process and the path for a constant improvement. I also work as a freelance illustrator, having done work for children's books, invitations, whiteboard animations, CD's, book covers, websites, portraits... My favorite artists as a whole are Käthe Kollwitz and Francis Bacon. I also love the artists from the School of London, Giacometti... all the art that has an expressive loose touch to it, but still, some kind of structure.
