Inspired by favorites such as Prince, Michael Jackson, Maze and his all-time favorite group New Edition, D began singing at an early age. Until age 11, when he began writing R&B song lyrics, he focused his efforts on writing poems, short stories, and love letters. Soon he transitioned to writing rap/hip-hop lyrics upon being introduced to a wave of artists such as home state favorites, Snoop Dogg, DJ Quik, and The Luniz, and East Coast rappers and groups Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, Jay-Z, Diddy, and R. Kelly. By age 18, D Lamar had won a local record store talent search and performed during a talent show preceding a Cash Money/Ruff Ryders concert. As a result he recorded his first songs at a professional recording studio—one of which, "Rain," was selected by a classmate for video production as a senior project. D Lamar has gone on to meet and work with other local Bay Area artists such as members of Mob Figgas, with the notable song “Edible,” produced by Rob-Lo. He also produced the mixtape “It’s Over” and collaborated on other songs with artists from around the globe, including Doc J (Los Angeles), Rapper Soul Food (New York), and El Hoya (U.K.). Most recent updates, D Lamar has been added to the Manu Forti Release with 99% Studios, He is featured on a track called "Still You" This will be released Aug.1 2014. And he currently has an EP on iTunes titled "The Outlet EP" 5 tracks of classy, grimy, dark, bass heavy, EDM! He is currently working on a large project called "The Year of 1000 Songs" and will be soon releasing the official 1st Mixtape "Death of me" (Tia Ross)
