D-Jaw is the alias of Dan Bartholomew, a House and Techno DJ from East London. He is also the owner of Bite You Bottom Lip Recordings (BYBL), a label which pushes the boundaries between House and Techno. Dan has always been fascinated by the history of underground music and collected records from a young age. He was heavily influenced by neighbours and friends who shared the same passion. Garage, Drum and Bass and Old school Rave were all sounds he grew up with during the 90's and this has influenced his current style. During the first decade of the new millennium Dan held a residency in Greece, played at most of London's top clubs, held long standing radio show with Ketrano DJ’s and started to produce music. This foundation has given him the ability to read a crowd and deliver what they want. It’s all about making people dance and his current style reflects this. Given the time, Dan prefers to take the crowd on an uncharted journey. Beginning with chunky Deep House, progressing into peak time uplifting Tech and then darker into Techno once everyone settles in for the night. Being able to craft a set like this gives Dan an edge which means he can comfortably fill any set time and promoters have come to rely upon this when booking him. They know that they are not just in safe hands but that he will deliver something special tailored to what the crowd needs at that moment. In 2013 Dan realised one of his dreams, to launch his own record label, BYBL Recordings which gets its name from the face people pull when they hear a quality bassline and bite their bottom lip. So far it has artists from all over the globe signed to it and has over 10 releases along with its own podcast. More recently Dan held a residency at The Doghouse, a pop up nightclub which hosted a number of headliners. Highlights include a warm up set for Groove Armada and closing the Doghouse following Todd Terry. With an LP in the pipeline, the launch of his labels radio show and a few surprises up his sleeve 2016 is shaping up to be a good year.
