Hello! My name is Dave :) I am applying for the <job>. A little bit about me and why I love what I do and I want to be apart of what you do! I have now worked for two years professionally in code. It has been an uphill climb but, every moment has been enjoyable. As you’ll see from my CV I learnt web development through the immersive three-month boot camp at General Assembly. It required a huge amount of dedication to learn so fast, so much and so intensely for 3 months. I now am proficient in Javascript first my primary languages. I have been using PHP at a more basic/intermediate level on my job for the year and a half year. I started out with Angular js as the first JS framework I used, but I am currently training with React and Redux (also reading ‘You Don’t Know Js’ to get my js understanding to a completer level.). My portfolio gives you a good idea of my coding knowledge when I left GA. My first professional role in code pushed my learning abilities both in speed and variety. It was in working with completely new code bases, new languages and ways of working. I even had to set up the git workflow. I work on my own for 3 months with patches of help from freelancers and continued my education solo. Many people would see this as a negative going into their first role, but it taught me how to learn without guidance. My tenacity of being a dev grew leaps and bounds. This is part of what I can bring to a role, my dedication and my stubbornness to succeed. I will not give up on a problem or a colleague until we have a solution. I have a distinct desire to learn. It’s what drove me through this past year and through my course. One of the rewarding aspects I discovered was once I have learnt a lesson from being able to explain it to someone and truly understand. That was a surprise. I enjoy the code, I enjoy building, I enjoy helping others and I enjoy seeing a functioning piece of work. Outside of code I am an avid cook, fitness enthusiast, musician and gamer. These are my escapes to refuel my system. I enjoy travelling but sacrificed this and my other interests to engage in my career switch. They are slowly filtering back into my life as I try to find the perfect work/life balance. Thanks for reading :) All the best, Dave

Thanks for reading :)
