[but-her-face] New York City's DJ BUTTERFACE (aka Michael Bazini) got his start in 1994 with his "fundustrial" band Dystopia One. They released three full-length albums between None Of The Above Records and Rawkus Entertainment, and performed aggressively throughout the 90's. By 2000, he reintroduced himself as DJ Butterface, working as an electronic composer and producer. His music can be heard in video games (Extreme G3, Acclaim Entertainment), local independent films and television shows (HBO Boxing, CBS NFL/Basketball, MTV Cribs, Room Raiders), and his original compositions have been used for several New York City theater productions. DJ Butterface worked extensively with NYC DJ collective/label Vinylholic, and was a resident DJ at B3, their flagship club in the East Village. His current performances include events throughout the New York City area, and regular bookings nationwide in Tucson, AZ; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL, and Boston, MA. DJ Butterface's releases include remixes for Paranoid Social Club's Two Girls (Vinylholic), Nadir's Slave (Bikiniwax), and John Haze's Static (Tharsis). His latest remix was done in collaboration with Phylr & Martin Bisi on The Invisible Kid's "The Taking Away". Butterface appears on Martin Bisi's (Sonic Youth, Dresden Dolls, Dystopia One) new EP, "Son Of A Gun" (Contraphonic Records) including a writing collaboration with Bisi, Apple Of My Eye, featuring Bill Laswell. DJ Butterface also performs backing vocals and keyboards on Bisi's current tour. In 2010, DJ Butterface formed AwwYeah Records, an all digital record label that has re-issued his prior band projects such as Dystopia One, Rocket Romano and Jumantu. It's currently consisting of a diverse dj/producer collective with a mission to release fun DJ friendly tracks; spanning Breakbeat, Electro, Progressive House, Dub-Step, Hip Hop and Turntablism. The growing collective is currently pooling it's talents from Anton Pukshansky, Jim "Phylr" Coleman, Orion Keyser, LB3, DJ Powder, DJ Annalyze, DJ Kares, Mikey FX, MC Profit, Neech, MC Nathan Nice, Datgirl, DJ President Ike, Tray*LA, T.Dub and myself, DJ Butterface. Also in 2010, DJ Butterface traveled to Montreal, Canada, hired to program beats and sequences alongside legendary producer Steve Thompson (Guns N Roses, Korn, Clutch) for various projects related to up-and-coming producer Rick LP. This venture lead to working with members of Celine Dion's band including world renowned drummer Dominique Messier and bassist extraordinaire Marc Langis. In January 2011, BAZINI AUDIO, a full on commercial recording studio was formed and currently open to the public. By October 2011, DJ Butterface did 3 remixes for Fred Schneider of the B52s new solo project, The Superions, entitled "Bat Baby" - a quirky Halloween anthem.
