Bio:
ENG: Electric Circus started at the end of 2013, when Francesco Cretti (guitar), Paolo Urbani (drums and percussion) and Paolo Pilati (bass) decided to form an instrumental band. The project was initially based on playing and arranging famous jazz standards, but the trio began writing original material and creating his own sound, moving between jazz, blues and fusion, creating definitely psychedelic atmospheres. During the first year of activity, talented musicians like Bruce Gil (samples and electronics), Giordano Grossi (upright bass), Alessandro Leonardi (trumpet) and Giuliano Buratti (tenor sax) collaborated on the project, and in November 2014 the band recorded and released their first EP, named “Evoluzione”. The album, recored at MetroRec Studios in Riva del Garda, contains 6 original compositions and a cover version of Mulatu Astatke’s song Asmarina. Between the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, Electric Circus presented their songs playing in several concerts in northern Italy. From spring 2015 Electric Circus becomes a quintet, since Alessandro (trumpet) and Giuliano (sax) joined the project, starting to present songs from “Evoluzione” and new compositions during their concerts.
