Hello, My name is Giulia Monguzzi and I’m an Italian Industrial Designer who recently graduated from Politecnico di Milano. My passion for design and art started when I was young. I was obsessed with the TV program “Art Attack” and, above all with Legos. I used to spend way too much time playing with those little color bricks and covering myself with vinyl glue while crafting some new useless object that, in my eyes, was such an innovative design object. Despite this great passion, as years passed by, I put aside my artistic streak to focus on my other big passion: foreign languages. I studied languages and economics at high school and, when I graduated, I left home to spend a year as an Au Pair in the United States in the company of a wonderful family in Maryland. During this incredible time, I got the opportunity to experience new thing, visit new places, meet interesting people and grow up as a person. Moreover, I understood how strong my interest in design is. In fact, almost by mistake, I took a 3D Art and Design class at the community college near the city I was living in. This event made me realized that I couldn’t imagine living without the satisfaction that drawing and building something beautiful gives me anymore and so I decided that I wanted to study Product design. During my three-year experience at Politecnico di Milano I got the opportunity of exploring the world of design and its numerous aspects and I became aware of what kind of design really inspires me the most. I found out that I love illustrations and graphic design in general. I learned how to use most of the Adobe Suite and 3D modelling programs that help me visualizing the product that I’m designing before producing it. I’m a big fan of Adobe Illustrator and, in my spare time, I like drawing cartoonish characters and fliers for event that take place around my area. I’m really interested in new technologies and in the interactions between product and user. In my studies I understood that user analysis is as much important as design itself and that good design is thorough down to the last detail. Good design should be innovative, but never be an end itself. It should be useful and beautiful, be self-explanatory and, above all, it should be pure and simple. I hope that you could give me the incredible opportunity to show you how my passion for design, my curiosity and my desire for learning new things could be a good asset for your company. Thank you in advance for your attention. Best regards, Giulia Monguzzi
