He made his first mix tape two years later, using a cassette recorder to dub his favorite songs played on the radio. During his freshman college year he attended an underground rave, which revolutionized his conception of music and inspired him to buy his first set of turntables and mixer. For the next ten years he would devote himself to learning how to mix every style of music, including: hip-hop, rock, dubstep, electro, house, breakbeat, drum and bass, and techno. Due to this diversity, his sets were always memorable and unique. Eventually he was able to blend all the different genres into a cohesive whole, destroying the unnecessary barriers between styles of electronic music. After five years of intense focus on the art of the mix, Hologram took his skills on the road and played warehouses, clubs, and renegades all over the United States. From New York to Miami, Philadelphia to San Francisco, there were no cities he wouldn’t travel to in order to spread his electronic gospel. Around this same time the producing bug hit Hologram. After studying under the best producer in the area for over a year and earning a Digital Audio Production certificate, Hologram holed up in his studio (when he wasn’t busy playing gigs) to master the art of music creation. This signaled a return to his past. While his dj career was taking off, Hologram was also hard at work learning to play synthesizers and drums, intending to one day perform his original music live. Currently Hologram’s been swamped by remix work for some top record labels, including: OWSLA, Ultra, Marine Parade, Dirtybird, Nothing, and many others. Hologram has also developed a live act, utlilizing Ableton Live, a Novation keyboard, and his Roland Handsonic. This new project, called Metamorphosis, is about to release its first full length album, and has already received acclaim from audiences. It’s a DJ/One man Band hybrid, combined with live singing and dancing by vocalists and MCs, which bridges the gap between traditional dance music and live music events.
