uniE621 Logo for an Intelligent Theft-Deterrence for Bicycles
M!nder is an Intelligent Theft-Deterrence for Bicycles. It is expected to go on sale in the Summer of 2022, initially in Vancouver, BC, Canada. As this product does not yet have a proven market, the client was hoping for only quick work rather than a deeply contemplated creation. Still, I needed to keep in mind that the logo had to be versatile for future packaging and other aspects. The client did not want the logo to be about theft; rather, his idea centers on the love of one's bicycle. He was also open to anything else that might inspire the designer's mind. Understanding the product and knowing the product name is crucial. However, in this case, the product name hadn't been decided when I started, so I focused on creating a graphic signifier associated with the product and the client's words, "love of bicycles." As a logo designer, I developed three design concepts. The client loved both the text and the illustration of design A. He found the lower-case works particularly well with the exclamation mark and the 'love' aspect. The client also liked the illustration being dominant relative to the name. Applications used: Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, Artboard Studio You can find details of this project at the link below. https://www.twine.net/signin Password: sunday #logo #branding #designer #graphicdesigner #illustrator
    uniE621 Infographic for a Non-profit Organization
Binaytara Foundation is a non-profit organization with the goal of bringing positive changes to people's lives by promoting health and education. The foundation aims to improve healthcare in resource-poor communities and improve cancer care worldwide by educating healthcare providers and the community. The client's upcoming major project was to build the first phase of a new 200-bed hospital in Janakpur in Nepal. They were looking for an Infographic or organizing visual showing how the organization's divergent activities align with the foundation's mission for the public and especially for the potential donors to understand. A fundraising event was also going to be held. After studying the information provided in writing by the client: their vision, achievements and future plan, I needed to deconstruct and reorganize the data into separated sheets and a diagram to see the big picture and the relationships between each organization’s achievement and future plan. As a graphic designer, I first started word mapping from the data and extracted some design keywords. Then, I looked for the most effective way to present the data aligned with the design keywords, which was to have the public, including potential donors, clearly understand the organization's efforts and achievements and its present focus. As a result, I designed infographics that articulate the hospital project's essential data with a touch of visuals associated with Nepal and neighbouring regions. I also created a chronological infographic with icons to summarize the organization's efforts and achievements. uniE621 Logo & Web Design for a Children’s Early Learning Center
The client was looking for compact branding for a children's early learning center. The target market was families with children aged 2.5 to 5 years and parents between the ages of 25 to 45 who would believe in an education that is a modern and a play-based innovative program as opposed to a strict academy. The client was also planning to prepare freshly made, to-go kids' meals and eventually develop a kids' kitchen for recipes to share. They needed a logo, website, and kids' meal label/package to start the business. The client described the center as a unique early childhood program based on modern research, love and happiness. Instead of having a structured program focused only on academics, they focused on children's holistic learning experience that encourages comprehensive development based on modern research. As a logo and branding designer, I shared hand-drew diagrams at the early stage of my brainstorming to confirm how I understood the client’s key concepts and ensure the client and I were on the same page. I came up with five logo design concepts. uniE621 Logo Design for an Online Event
The client was organizing an online event, Bootstrap West Online Summit, which was planned to be held in 2021 as a one-day micro-conference for independent software developers, makers and solopreneurs in Western Canada & USA. The organization’s core mission was to help bootstrappers build healthy lifestyles and sustainable businesses. The client was looking for a logo in single colour or two, something that can be easily printed onto fabric within budget. From a style perspective, the client liked the logo I previously designed for WordCamp Vancouver. As a logo designer, I developed three design concepts. The client liked all concepts but most liked design A. He saw it as the most versatile and captured the feel he wanted. uniE621 Web Design & Development for People & Prairies
The client was Central Texas landowners partnered with Tarleton State University. They were looking for a place to communicate and make the resources available to landowners and residents in the area to provide a unique opportunity to learn ways to benefit and support native wildlife and habitat on their properties. Specifically, the client wanted to tell and show what species live in the area and present the goals and activities of the land management plan by Tarleton State University. As a web designer/developer and often acting as a project manager, I worked closely with the client to make it easy for them to focus on gathering materials on schedule. I helped find species images from Creative Commons. I deconstructed and reorganized the materials to be ready for the website and planned the site structure with a clear purpose for each content. As the essential part, I created pages presenting the management plan in five steps. I made icons for each step to help viewers clearly understand the process and added a glossary on the side of each page to help viewers easily find further information or definitions of unfamiliar terms for many people. Another vital content was a catalogue of species. I created it with category icons that easily recognize their kind for easy navigation and fun to visit. uniE621 Web Design & Development for a Maracaibo Estates
Maracaibo Estates is a private residential community comprised of individual lots, shared property and membership. About 150 members share a common property, including cottages, a marina, lagoon, courts, private hiking trails and a members' Lounge. The client felt their website was outdated and wasn't serving the management office or members well. The client conducted a survey to clarify the issues to be solved and areas to be improved. I was also aware that many members were seniors, and the website had to be easy for them to use. As a web designer and developer, I collaborated with the project committee members and the strata councils from research, planning, and presentation at their AGM. I built a public-facing website highlighting the beautiful property and amenities, and providing sufficient information to potential buyers. For members, I built a password-protected website that checked all client's wishlists. The project significantly improved the workflow of the management office and how members find information and communicate with each other on a daily basis. uniE621 Graphic Design for a Restaurant
The client was a casual eatery serving authentic homemade Italian food. The client wanted to redesign menus and other print items with a fresh look for better functionality without changing their existing logo, and ultimately boosting sales. Creating items around the existing logo can be challenging if the logo doesn’t represent the business clearly or is not versatile for different media; the artwork is too complicated, too many colors, text too small, etc. Even if a client knows their logo can use an update, they sometimes have to stick with it because of the budget, current customers are already familiar with it and don’t want to make a significant change, etc. As a graphic designer, my approach for this project was to create a new consistent look that represents the client's business, which was serving authentic Italian food in a casual setting. I wanted to spotlight the new look. The logo to be low-key but presented clearly. Most importantly, to make it easy for their customers. The client also wanted to emphasize the premium local ingredients they use, I created some key graphic elements when I designed the first item; menu boards. Once I created a set of the graphic elements, they were easily developed into different media and ultimately able to make a consistent look throughout items the client uses daily.
