Luis Malheiro is a multi-instrumentalist musician, composer and producer. Born and raised in Newark NJ, he began taking guitar lessons at age 12. Later he studied music theory and classical guitar at Rutgers University. Luis began producing and performing electronic music in the early 1990's. A regular at the Pipeline night club in Newark, NJ, he also performed at the legendary Limelight night club in NYC. In his early twenties he also spent several years practicing the Brazilian art of Capoeira with respected masters such as Cigano, Ombrinho, No, Efraim, Deraldo, Joao Grande, and Cabelo, among others. During these years Luis became exceedingly proficient with the iconic percussive instrument - the berimbau. In September 2003, at age 31, Luis made a huge life change and enlisted for military service with the US Army. After 11 years of service and achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class, Luis separated from the Army with an honorable discharge. Shortly thereafter, he would self-release his first single through TuneCore, entitled "It's a Fine Day". It would be an entirely new take on a dance classic from the early 90's. A blend of traditional instrumentation, vintage electronic sounds, and modern tones and recording techniques would define this release. Working from his professional home studio in North Carolina, Luis utilizes a collection of world class instruments and recording equipment and is Certified in Logic Pro X.
