Follow me on Twitter @MikeStaniforth This is my debut #documentary starring some unforgettable characters who all have their own personal, and sometimes sad, stories to tell. With homelessness on the rise in the UK and with more people sleeping rough on the streets than ever, I decided to speak to the #homeless people of #Manchester to see just how bad it is. With the council only providing a 'snap shot' of the true statistics of how bad the situation really is, we go on a journey with some of the people that the council are refusing to acknowledge. With thanks to Claude Lee Sadik, without whom this film couldn't have been made, thank you for accompanying me for the strange and wonderful adventures around Manchester at very unsociable hours. Mark Sargison for cleaning up the audio and adding a wonderful soundtrack. John at Deep Elm Records for letting me use the one track I found that fitted this piece perfectly, you are very kind. Music details: MOONLIT SAILOR "Fresh Snow" from their album So Close To Life Lukasz, I doubt he will ever read this, but he made me realise just how lucky I am and to not take anything for granted whilst appreciating everything and everyone in my life. I hope our paths do cross again and under better circumstances. All shot on #Canon #DSLR using whatever lenses I could get hold of. Canon #7D, #60D and #550D Carl Zeiss 50mm 1.4 Canon 24-70mm L 2.8 #Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 Audio Zoom H1 Audio Techina Lav mic #Rode VideoMic Pro Support #Sachtler ACE tripod #Manfrotto Video Monopod Flycam 3000 Glidetrack SD Edited and CC'd in Final Cut X. Text and tracking done in After Effects CS5.5 Follow me on Twitter twitter.com/MikeStaniforth For full write up about the making of this documentary please visit my blog mikestaniforthfilm.com/?p=9 For more about me and my work please visit MikeStaniforth.com For more about Claude check out his site ClaudeSadik.com And last but not least, check out Marks website marksargison.co.uk And finally, please please please support you local homeless shelter, these guys are the real heroes working all out to help people in need. They rely so much on government/council funding and this is being cut all the time up and down the country, so it is important more than ever to donate money, food or clothing. Every little helps.

Fantastic documentary. Important to be reminded there is a story to be told behind every homeless person we walk past as it's unfortunately too easy to not give it a second thought. Great work.

@stuart @steve and, if my memory serves me right, Alan also had his portrait painted and it hung in Manchester art gallery for a time.
