We create genuinely useful software applications and games that are fun and engaging. We pride ourselves in our ability to adapt and be flexible, to be innovative and truly creative. We love to design and build mobile apps, games, web apps, and other software and innovative technology including smart home systems, VR and wearables. Our values lie in adaptability, and as such we do not restrict ourselves to any one particular type of development. We embrace concepts that align with our own values - cross-platform development ideologies. We have created apps for Nordea Bank, Auto Trader, McDonalds, Abarth, The Prince's Trust and The United Nations, across industries we are proud to be a part of such as Education, Entertainment, Games, Healthcare, Automotive, Retail, Safeguarding, and Tech for Good. We love games! We love to make software fun and engaging. We use our many years of working in the games industry to ‘gamify’ experiences, and to make games that are not only fun, but also serve a genuine purpose. We have created mobile games, virtual worlds, and gamified experiences for some of the world’s top brands including BBC, Cartoon Network, Miniclip, Wizard of Oz, McDonalds, and Unity. Whether it’s mobile first or desktop dashboard applications, we are experts in understanding the wider ecosystems that go into making end-user experiences delightful. Many of our projects require us to not only consider our clients’ customers, but also our clients’ staff and partners. As such we develop BtoB and BtoC systems, with a broad holistic view across all technologies, providing web software experiences like no other. ----- "Phil is a sharp, empathetic person who has a knack for understanding complex organisational structures. He works well under pressure by keeping calm, cool and collected, which in turn resonated well with the rest of the team. His ability to listen and make sure that people's well being was primary makes him, in my opinion, a great leader. Hope one day we cross paths and work together again!" Adele Asuncion - Design Consistency @ Nordea "Phil is one of the greatest talents I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with in my career - He’s down to earth, straight talking and a genuinely nice guy. I look forward to our next project working together." Rick Giolito, Executive @ EA "He has an excellent understanding of quality user experience. From personally being part of the same team, hearing him provide direction and guidance, I can attest to Phil’s capability as a leader and director." Richard Turek, Senior Producer @ Dubit

    uniE621 Auto Trader Mobile App
The mobile App for the UK’s number 1 car marketplace, personalised to work for you. The UK’s number 1 marketplace When we started working with Auto Trader we were hoping to be paid in Ford Mustangs and Jaguar F-Types. Alas, that didn’t happen, but what we DID do was help evolve their mobile app into the new kickass UK marketplace for cars into what it is today. When we first sat down with the executive team at Auto Trader, they informed us that they were transitioning their business from web-first to mobile product-first. We embraced this and were hired to help transition their business to put their mobile apps team at the core of the business. We worked with Auto Trader’s internal development team to help establish new design processes, setting the Auto Trader mobile app as the frontrunner technology in the business, paving the way for an end-user centred experience. The Auto Trader app now works FOR the user, helping them not only find their perfect car match, but also help with the running of their existing vehicle, completing the entire loop of car ownership in the UK. #productdesign #ux #ui #app #software
    uniE621 Safeguarden Mobile App
In response to the Covid 19 pandemic, we worked with our friends at CDD Services to produce SafeGuarden - the mobile app and associated suite of tools to help vulnerable people and other people in need find suitable community volunteers in their area. The solution also empowered volunteers to proactively find local people in need in order to reach out and provide the services they need, such as grocery shopping, dog walking or to simply offer a friendly conversation. Each care worker or volunteer has their own unique digital identity card to prove they are who they say they are - their RealMeID. Devices can then be scanned to validate identity. All volunteers are subject to background checks appropriate to the service offered, ensuring all security measures are taken to give vulnerable people the reassurance they need. SafeGuarden and its associated apps and software is now the most widely used community volunteering software in the UK, and now being purposed for use in other countries. #branding #creative #ux #ui #visualdesign #app #software
    uniE621 Missguided Mobile App
The retail fashion mobile app putting users at the centre of their shopping experience. Thanks babe, it’s Missguided! We didn’t go as far as completely changing our wardrobes with Missguided, but what we did was help their internal development team realise and validate their new mobile app. We were hired to help lead and support the Missguided internal team to get their new mobile app product to market. The team at the popular retail fashion company had already done an amazing job with the new mobile app by the time we came onboard. We offered some additional value in validating their designs, and helped to bridge the gap between their internal design team and internal development team. We advised on a variety of new features and future developments for the team and mobile app, as well as introducing new design systems for future expansion within the internal team. #ux #ui #productdesign #consultancy
    uniE621 MMA Federation
If you’re lucky, maybe once or twice in your career, the stars align and you have the opportunity to work on a project that combines your personal interests, your full suite of skills, performing the perfect role. That’s what happened when I met the renown ex EA Games VP Exec, Rick Giolito, and the Veteran Voice of the UFC Octagon, Bruce Buffer. Iiiiiiit’s Tiiiime! In October 2013 the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) were holding an event in my home town of Manchester, UK. I had arranged a sit down through a mutual acquaintance with none other than Bruce Buffer, the Octagon announcer the night before the fight. Prior to the meeting I had done some preliminary work for an ‘App’ to allow users to earn ‘real rewards’ from the the world of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), such as signed gloves, tickets to events etc. The App at the time was kind of a statistics based game with a rich economy, kind of like the original Championship Manager, but for the fight game. The meeting went very well and in January 2014 I set up a new studio in Manchester to create MMA Federation, the strategy fighting game for iOS and Android, on mobile and tablet. Already I had found myself working on another mobile gaming project, but the theme was MMA, and I’d been a fan for many years, and also practiced from time to time. To add to this good fortune, a previous studio I had worked with had just closed its doors, and I managed to hire three incredible individuals to help kick off the project with me. A few weeks in to the project and we already had a prototype. We had come up with the concept of a turn based fighting game using ‘Cards’… a bit like Pokemon for MMA. We split combat into attack and defense turns, created rounds, and created hundreds of Moves with different styles, targets and statistics. It wasn’t long before we started to gain some traction and raise some awareness. One interested party was Rick Giolito, games industry veteran, ex EA VP Exec and the genius behind the Medal of Honor franchise Knockout Kings. Rick and I hit it off immediately and he helped me greatly by bridging the gap between the internal studio, and the external board, investors and the business side of business. Fast forward a year and I had built a studio, at its peak, to 22 talented people, ranging between artists, animators, programmers, designers, QA, marketing and even a project manager. I still retained hands-on with game design, UI, UX, audio and video work and took direct line management responsibility for Art, Animation and Design. The amazing Adrian Waterhouse took responsibility for the tech team and what we built in a little over a year was nothing short of incredible. #studiomanagement #gamedesign #wireframing #uxdesign #uidesign #prototyping #creative #creativedirection
    uniE621 Nordea Bank
Introducing design culture and strategy as part of an agile transformation process. Always close at hand Our first conversation with Nordea was about UX Design. By the time we finished the project, we had reinspired their internal design team, encouraged a new design culture within personal banking, and introduced design thinking into their new development-led agile ways of working. Working with the digital banking teams at Nordea was truly wonderful for us. As a general rule, we are not accustomed to working with large corporations, however after an initial conversation with their Head of Customer Experience, we were so inspired we jumped on a flight to Copenhagen. We worked with their internal teams across various locations including Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, and the rather chilly town of Oulu (northern Finland… very cold). We quickly helped establish a new design team in Copenhagen with their internal teams, helping to re-establish the web-first corporate banking design team in Denmark. That enabled us to focus on personal banking, prioritising a mobile app focus, out of their Finland offices in Helsinki and Oulu. We promptly set about laying a foundation of collaboration, inclusivity, creativity and integrity into the design team, encouraging a new design culture, and reintroducing the design side of the business to the rest of digital banking. We worked with their internal designers as well as established consultants to integrate with development feature teams, while also remaining true to our new design culture. At a higher level, we worked actively across all feature teams, ensuring quality and consistency was in place across the entirety of the personal banking mobile app, as well as proactively working on new innovative prototypes for the future of digital banking. We absolutely adored working with the team at Nordea, and relish the opportunity to work with them again. We are proud to call them our friends. #productdesign #ux #ui #prototype #app #software
