The aim of this project was to create a billboard that captured the atmosphere of a poem, while also displaying the poetry typographically. This Irish poem describes the painful wait and powerlessness in watching the events unfolding in Gaza. For my interpretation, I chose to focus on the viewer, us here, watching news updates on television and seeing them online, likely safe, where our only connection to these people is through a screen. In this way, others’ struggles are diluted and there is a distance, or broken connection between us. I hoped that my billboard would disrupt people from their daily routine and make them consider this for a moment. This poster was printed onto 4-sheet billboards in Dublin city in the Autumn of 2015. #photo #photography #graphicdesigner #graphicdesign #printmedia #print #billboard #irish #gaeilge #poster #poetry #worldevents
