Real name Mlungisi Ashton Khanyile, he was born in 1985 in his hometown Empangeni north of KZN thereafter relocated to Durban and grew up there as he was taking care of his academic record, he later came back to his hometown for his tertiary studies as he attended Umfolozi College Richtek campus. DJ Spice always had love and passion for music since growing up as a kid. After completing his diploma he took to the streets of Durban and surrounding township playing wherever he got an opportunity to make people dance. He has been one of the best DJ in KZN and his first break through was in 2006 when he won DJ Knock out competition on DYR and was sent to JHB to SAMC (Southern African Music Conference) DJU Foundation & Department of Arts & Culture South Africa in Johannesburg. He learnt a lot from this conference that helped him pave his way in the industry. He has performed alongside the likes of Ganyani , DJ Sbu, DJ Andy X, Shana, Culoe De Song, Tira,, Christos and other local acts. Dj Spice has also showcased his mixing skills on Radio stations such as Ukhozi FM, Gagasi FM, DYR(Durban Youth Radio) & Vibe FM. In 2011 he was nominated & voted Best local dj for the Stars of Mhlathuze Awards in Richard’s Bay. The award really put DJ Spice on the platform within’ the music industry as in the same year he played in big events in Cape Town, Ermelo, Eastern Cape Umtata.
