Spotlight: Auður

Auðunn Lúthersson is an Icelandic 22 year old unsigned multi-instrumentalist who performs under the pseudonym Auður.

He has produced for some of the biggest names in Icelandic hip hop, R&B and pop and was recently accepted into the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy (joining the rankings of Hudson Mohawke, Aloe Blacc, Katy B and Evian Christ). To add to all this, he is also a brilliant jazz guitarist, studying at Tónlistarskóli FÍH – what a talented guy!

His debut single ‘South America’ is characterized by the awesome minimal/ alternative/ future sound that has been really gathering pace in Iceland in recent times. Indie Trendsetters write that ‘the nonabrasive exterior of “South America” slips past every mental defense, stroking the mind with silk, myrrh, and the occasional hit of rich bass’.

Make sure you remember the name Auður as he is definitely one of the most exciting new live acts to look out for in 2016!

To find out more about Auður follow him on Clowdy, Facebook and Twitter.

Joe Scarffe

Joe is the Community and Marketing Manager and is currently finishing up a PhD in music at Birmingham Conservatoire and still hasn’t got over his addiction to coffee. He loves getting involved in crazy music projects and plays the bassoon, oboe, piano, recorder and guitar. He also makes lots of electronic music and loves collaborating. He sings too if you ask nicely and once shamefully sang as a backing singer for Will Young. When he’s not moaning about the state of the music industry or public transport in Manchester, he works with the Twine community and handles social media, the blog and partnerships with companies and institutions.
