Spotlight: Faitala

Faitala is a three piece band, made up of New Zealand singer/songwriter David Faitala, EV Houlton on keys and Oli Hughes on drums. Formed during the summer of 2012, Faitala bring together cute, quirky pop thrown in with a few 8-bit sounds from time to time. The band have performed live on Marc Riley’s BBC 6 Music show and their track Plush has had plays on Gideon Coe’s 6 Music Show, Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing Mixtape, BBC Introducing Manchester, John Kennedy’s XFM X-Posure Show and In Colour with Darren Cleary on RTÉ 2XM.

Their track Plush was made a Staff Pick almost a year ago and has a really great funky, quirky vibe.

They have a new single called ‘Beasts’, a sample of which is on their Clowdy portfolio. The full track is available on pre-order from their website.

To find out more about Faitala, follow them on Clowdy, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Joe is the Community and Marketing Manager and is currently finishing up a PhD in music at Birmingham Conservatoire and still hasn’t got over his addiction to coffee. He loves getting involved in crazy music projects and plays the bassoon, oboe, piano, recorder and guitar. He also makes lots of electronic music and loves collaborating. He sings too if you ask nicely and once shamefully sang as a backing singer for Will Young. When he’s not moaning about the state of the music industry or public transport in Manchester, he works with the Twine community and handles social media, the blog and partnerships with companies and institutions.
