Spotlight on Gold Jacks

Not going to get all coy about this, we’re fans of Gold Jacks. Their music is full of electrifying energy, alluring soul and real style.

Gold Jacks are the offspring of a decision during a Northern Quarter night out. Heavily influenced by the sunglasses of Roy Orbison the aim was to make an impact on the Manchester music scene. Bringing back authentic rock n’ soul and releasing awesome, inspiring tracks. These weren’t all delusions of drunken grandeur.

You’ll hear a similar sound to that of The Black Keys with the pairing of soulful vocal chords and funky, garage-rock riffs. You’ll certainly sense the influence in one of our favourites, “Neon Soul”.

It’s not all lively placed and strutting across the bar with cocktail in hand. Another one of our staff pick choices from Gold Jacks takes on a different format of a more vocal driven and pensive bit of soul music before later smashing the glass and delivering a roar of attitude. Have a listen below. Here’s “Count the rain”.

What are Gold Jacks doing now? Well starting early next year they’ll be releasing their first official single so keep your ears pinned back for that and look out for dates by following their Twitter page here and indeed showing them some love on Clowdy.

Dylan has now been involved with Clowdy for over a year as an integral part of the creative and marketing team. In his spare time he gives the rest of the office an intense inferiority complex by being a jazz pianist, mathematically proven to be the coolest possible hobby.
