Nunki is a five piece Belgian band made up of Hanne Torfs (vocals & synths), Ruben den Brok (synths), Joerie Dekker (guitar & percussion), Ivo Schot (bass), Ruben Mesika (drums). Their self titled debut EP was an eclectic, dreamy record perhaps best described as dream-pop or psychedelic indie with a modern electronic touch, which reminds listeners of acts like London Grammar, Kimbra and Björk.
They told us that they ‘invite listeners to join on an atmospheric journey to a small planet on the outskirts of the milky way where you will discover a unique story in each and every song’ – Sounds good to us!
They also point out that there are a number of characters on the album, including a horse escaping from human pampering and a polar bear falling in love with a frozen man found underneath a thick layer of ice. How surreal and awesome!
The band released their self-titled debut EP in October 2014 and, in between shows through the Netherlands and Belgium, are currently working on their first full-length album.
