Spotlight on Ettie

Ettie is a fresh on the scene singer-songwriter who I’m very excited to introduce. She only started releasing her original music this year and has already dived straight into the deep end with a really well produced and flawless sound.

She’s definitely worth keeping an eye on with 3 fantastic singles already released this year as well as a fourth track which is a collaboration with John Chang in their music project HAYOO. Also worth mentioning some really good song covers on her pages like FB and YouTube.

The track that stuck out to me on Clowdy, which is my favourite for sure, is “Muscle Memory”. Full of lively synth rhythms and a great club beat to dance with. It’s all brought together with an angelic, echoed atmosphere thanks to Ettie’s velvety vocals. Production kudos go to the talented ‘Plungerhands’ who you can find on Clowdy here. Definitely give some of those tracks a listen. For now though, have a listen to Muscle Memory below:

After hearing the lyrics, and seeing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in the description, It’s clear the inspiration to write the song came from being unable to break apart from the habits of being with someone. The subject matter is dealt with in a really melancholy but charming way with soothing, bright melodies and lyrics like “I don’t have many passions, yeah I’m seldom sincere, but I’ve got this one habit, and it’s you my dear”.

Have a listen to her other great tracks on Clowdy such as the stylish and glitzy ‘Paradise’ about gambling with romance and the much more chilled, downtempo debut release ‘Sandcastle’.
