Spotlight: Samuraidel

Samuraidel is a 20 years old music producer based in Seattle, whose tag line is ‘I chop up records, instead of my enemies’. Samuraidel’s style is heavily influenced by Wutang Clan, J Dilla, Madlib, MF Doom, and Pete Rock. However, more recently he has been expanding into house and electronica, where his influences stem from ESTA, Jungle, The Tropics, Disclosure, SBTRKT, Saje, and many others.

Samuraidel’s debut LP is called ‘Way of the Fastbender’ and features collaborations with Toby Kyle, BZKT, Sam Nelly, Chris Morris and Brasco Noir. It is the fifth volume in his beat tape discography.

He is currently working on collaborative EPs with MistaDC, BZ.KT, and Reaux Marquez.

His track ‘Rainshine’ is one of this week’s staff picks- head to the Discover page to hear it and find other handpicked gems. To find out more about Samuraidel, follow him on Clowdy, Twitter and Facebook.

Joe Scarffe

Joe is the Community and Marketing Manager and is currently finishing up a PhD in music at Birmingham Conservatoire and still hasn’t got over his addiction to coffee. He loves getting involved in crazy music projects and plays the bassoon, oboe, piano, recorder and guitar. He also makes lots of electronic music and loves collaborating. He sings too if you ask nicely and once shamefully sang as a backing singer for Will Young. When he’s not moaning about the state of the music industry or public transport in Manchester, he works with the Twine community and handles social media, the blog and partnerships with companies and institutions.
