Daymian is a rapper from New York who featured on a track called ‘I Flow’ from Mr.Tac a.k.a. Chocolate’s 14th Studio album which was a Twine staff pick a few months back. In this interview he talks about his influences, who he’s worked with on Twine and gives advice for how to get more opportunities on Twine.
What is your background and influences?
My background in music goes back to before I was even born. My father was a poet, my mom was and still does occasionally sing in small venues or churches, my grandfather was a DJ in the 70s and I’ve loved music since I was a kid. As for influences I’d have to say it ranges from 90’s KRS ONE, Nas, Eminem, all the way up till now with people like Future and Lil Durk being the first that come to mind.
Who have you worked with on Twine (and what projects you’ve worked on)?
Twine is actually where I found my current label Zone Platinum Entertainment. I did a collaboration with their top artist Mr.Tac a.k.a. Chocolate and next thing I knew I agreed to a distribution deal and now have music on most major music sites and places. I’ve also worked with Skinny Joey on the track ‘They Thinkin’ which is part of my Vanity EP and with JaeeJaee on the UK to USA mixtape. It’s really helped me boost my catalog of rappers to potentially hit up if I need something.
What’s your advice for finding people to work with on Twine?
My advice would just be to not be shy because most of us on Twine are looking for the same exact thing. So just be open and stay open minded and positive thinking no matter what you’re working on or what you want.
