Kenneth Earl Hemingway Jr. and Khaleem Solomon are the two founders of Cut Dog Music (CDM). Kenneth, who goes by the rap alias, June B, and Khaleem, also known as DJ Leem, are two Hip Hop artists who came together with a common purpose: to create timeless Hip Hop music. June B was born and raised in Conway, South Carolina, while DJ Leem was born in Germany as a result of his father being in the army. Leem, however, later moved to Rochester, NY where he was raised for most of his life. What bridged the gap between the two was the fact that they are cousins! Leem actually spent his Summers in South Carolina with June B. Naturally, the two gravitated towards Hip Hop and joined forces, musically. But the transition into music took some time for June B who was initially a football player in the NFL. However, he later decided to trade in his football jersey for the microphone. In 2007, June B started to take rapping more seriously. For Leem, being raised in New York, allowed him to be exposed to the music of Hip Hop heavyweights such as Jay Z, Notorious B.I.G. Cam’ron and DMX. When he eventually made the move to South Carolina, Leem began to draw influences from Southern Hip Hop pioneers as well. And it wasn’t long until he began producing, deejaying and recording music. June B and DJ Leem, eventually recorded and released their first project together titled, “CDM,” in 2015. Shortly after, the Hip Hop duo unleashed a series of projects that has set the tone for what’s to come in this new year. Looking back at their journey up to this point, Cut Dog Music’s proudest moment was opening up for Nappy Roots in Kansas City, Missouri. And they’ll be carrying that momentum for the remainder of 2016 as they gear up for their latest project release.
