Dorian Cheah is an Emmy-nominated composer, producer, arranger and musician from Pittsburgh, PA. He began playing violin at 2 ½ years old and moved to New York to study with Dorothy De Lay at The Juilliard School. In 1995, Dorian moved to Los Angeles, and by 1999 had begun composing for film and television, working with top producers and songwriters in LA, and recording with major label artists including Brandy, Celine Dion, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lopez, and En Vogue. His original scores for feature films and documentaries include the score for Am Limit by Academy Award-winning director Pepe Danquart and Concrete Kids by producer/director Lije Sarki (The Peanut Butter Falcon with Jon Bernthal, Dakota Johnson, and Shia LaBeouf). Dorian’s original compositions and productions have been placed in hundreds of films and TV shows including CSI, Ghost Whisperer, Zoey 101, Material Girls, Drake and Josh, Naturally Sadie, Degrassi, Tosh.0, Burn Notice, Victorious, One Life to Live, General Hospital, All My Children, and many others. Most of these placements feature his performances as guitarist, keyboardist, violinist, and sometimes vocalist. He is known as an electric violinist and has recorded two solo albums, both co-productions with esteemed producer Bill Laswell (Ara, 2007 on Metastation Records, and The Dorian Electric, 717, now available on Bandcamp).
