Jason has been a musician since birth and a touring musician for most of his adult life. Jason played in H.S. jazz band for 4 years, which gave him experience with composing, reading music, playing in competitions, as well as, playing live for many people. This was just the tip of the iceberg. Jason spent 13 years touring with a band called “The Pipe Circus” throughout the mid-west and beyond. They played Summerfest 5 years running, Racine Harborfest, Taste of Madison, and many other outdoor festivals and also touring many indoor clubs across 13 states in the mid-west. TPC played between 180 and 235 shows a year for almost 10 years running. TPC recorded 3 CD's and wrote many songs along the way. TPC was a four time W.A.M.I. Award winner, including in 2003 TPC won a W.A.M.I. for “Best R&B Group”. When Jason took a brief hiatus from TPC, he performed for a brief time in a progressive rock group from Madison called Middleworld. While in this band they won a M.A.M.A. Award for “Best Metal Band” in Madison in 2004. Jason has also shared the stage with many great acts such as: Owl City, The Doobie Brothers, Rio Speedwagon, Ted Nugent, Rare Earth, Mushroom Head, Cold, Powerman 5000, Breaking Benjamin, Dope, Ekoostik Hookah, and more... In 2011, Jason began a new chapter in music. Performing solo acoustic shows all over southern Wisconsin. After some great feedback from live shows, Jason started a NEW band called “Mr. Burgundy” in 2012. Mr. Burgundy performs everything from Jason Mraz to Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd to Incubus, and Sublime to Cas Haley, and many others, spanning over five decades of music. Mr. Burgundy plays reggae versions of some great classics like The Beatles and The Stones. However, Mr. Burgundy doesn't just do covers but also original music written by Bassist and Singer Jason D. Petitt. A “Mr. Burgundy DUO is also available for smaller settings. Jason has learned a lot about the bass guitar and learn to love, and master his instrument. Some of his greatest influences include Victor Wooten, Toni Levins, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorious, Les Claypool, and Charles Mingus, among others. His acoustic guitar influences span across the board from Dave Matthews to Paul Simon to Bob Marley. Jason is currently working on a solo cd for 2016 called “Zero”.
