Julie Fesko Penman
Salt Lake City, United States

My work is inspired by geometric shapes, architecture, light, nature and all species in abstract form. I create my work in many layers using metals, wood and /or custom pigments and paint under resin which increases dimension and depth. Although I'm considered to be a primitive artist, one with no formal training, I've had almost 40 years of accumulative, artistic training in many other ways. I suppose I would be classified as more of an intuitive artist; I just know when the work is right. No class room training could have taught me that, it's simply a matter of a feeling that I get. "Strings of coincidence can strengthen us in the determination to follow our deepest intuitions, even when they run counter to conventional wisdom and logic and cannot be subjected to rational explanation." ~Robert Moss "I believe in intuition and inspiration... At times I feel certain that I am right while not knowing the reason." ~Albert Einstein BIO: Julie Fesko Penman was born in 1961 and raised in Utah, but also lived in Texas and southern California for a while. She was the oldest of three children. Julie was taught art at a very early age by her dad and grandma who were very talented artists. She also took many art classes. Her passion for the arts and design ultimately led her to being commissioned to create many pencil portraits. She worked with several interior designers and in an art gallery in Palm Springs, California where she sold many famous Utah artists' work, including Silvia Davis, Dawna Barton, Randall Lake, Dennis Smith and many more. While living there, she also designed custom area rugs and wall to wall art using carpet as her medium. Her favorite medium for the past 20 years has been resin. Julie created a line of Christmas ornaments, jewelry and now incorporates it into her dimensional wall art. Julie is currently living in Murray, Utah with her husband of 27 years, Darren Penman. She has a step daughter, Brittnee, who is a marine veteran, nurse and mom to their wonderful, seven year old granddaughter, Amaia who also loves art.
