Joe started playing the guitar at the age of 16 when he found a guitar book in amongst a pile of motorcycle magazines that were given to his brother. He borrowed his niece’s guitar and proceeded to learn basic guitar techniques using the book. After a short time and with some help some help from friends and one of his older brothers he became quite proficient and enjoyed playing and learning all his favourite tunes and songs. He soon progressed into recording guitar parts and played along with his recordings, developing still further his lead and rhythm guitar skills. At the age of 18 he got himself a set of drums and so started his journey into learning to play many different instruments. Joe played in a few different bands or groups of friends, both playing guitar and drums, For many years he would travel to a rehearsal room with a group of friends to jam drink and be merry. Although the group of friends had developed into a good band doing mostly covers, Joe and his friends were never interested in becoming a serious outfit trying to make their way into music world of pop stars. They did however a go at writing some songs and tunes. This sparked a major interest in Joe and led him to develop the recording side of making music; he very much enjoyed creating recording and mixing music in a studio environment. He slowly built a collection of cheap or second hand equipment to help him get the sound for which he was looking. After many years and encouraged by his partner, he decided to try and sell his music to TV and film production companies. He got himself onto the new deal for musicians, a course that helped musicians progress into the music industry. This was to give Joe the knowledge and to point him in the right direction as to who, where and how to approach his future clients. After a short time and with just a little success he decided to go get himself educated in sound production. He firstly attended Reid Kerr College at the age of 37 to gain a Hnc in sound production this for him was great success with him finishing as one of the top students that year, which gave him the inspiration to carry on and get further in this field. He then attended stow college in Glasgow which a great reputation in the sound production field. In this Hnd course in which he also excelled and won a sponsors award for his skills using pro tools. This was presented at the graduation ceremony were his partner and young family were there to support him in his achievement. Joe decided to then attend university and chose to attend the music technology degree course at the then university of paisley, later to become university for the west of Scotland Joe got deeper involved in the recording side of music and continued to work on his own music and develop his skills in sound production he also around this time started to work in a local recording and rehearsal studio and was involved in many recordings. Joes home studio which has grown bigger and better equipment. His music has also been developing and has progressed along the lines of more computer based music as opposed to his earlier guitar based music. He also at this time got back to selling his music to film tv and production companies and still carries on with this to the present day.

Having been brought up on a healthy and varied diet of NES games and the tape collection of his parents. If FoolBoy's fingers werent on the buttons of his game controllers, they were tinkering with the tape spindle and tone controls of his dads expensive stacked hi-fi. Years later, add a diploma in Music Technology & Multimedia, the purchase of an electric guitar, bass and drum kit and you would rarely see him without an instrument of some kind, playing in several bands ranging from grunge thru metal, to dance floor pop music, in various roles. Having always loved video games and music, it wasnt until hanging up his guitar for a digital piano and helping out his friend in an animation course, providing sound, music and voice over work, that his creative spark was once again ignited. Posting some examples of his work on some free music sites caught the attention of a French director and within a couple of months had featured musically in a French blockbuster film and ever since there has rarely been a gap between projects, including Video Game Sound Tracks and SFX for mobile apps, National TV, Online MMORPGs, 3D Animations and a multitude of other mediums.

About music producers

A music producer is a 'project manager' for the recording of a song or track, just like a producer in the film industry. The music producer has an overall vision for the music, the sound and the goals of the project, and brings a unique perspective to inspire and assist artists to get the most out of their creative abilities.

Music producers on Twine can help make your dream song a reality. A well-produced track can help massively grow your audience. The same goes for commercial music - if you need a custom track for an advert or explainer video, a music producer can really help you with creative vision and direction. On Twine, you'll find talented professional music producers with a wide variety of experience in almost any musical genre.
