“We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.” – Jonathan Gottschall
Since a young age, whether it was through reading, writing, pretending or drawing, there where stories in my life. They create, inform, inspire.
To me, art allows me to use my visual senses to tell the stories that are often floating, abstracted or quickly jotted down into something more. An idea. A culture. A legend. They have created the story that is specific to me. They allow me to see the bigger world and to go and share that.
I really love working with art digitally. It can be so much more than just a static image. When I create storyboards that can than not only be used in it's entirety but also have the elements I created, used separately. The elements become more than just pieces of an image they become tools that help communicate, in different platforms and media.
I have worked in the publishing world before working for myself, allowing me the opportunity to hear other ideas and translate and share them with an even larger world. Whether it is through illustration or design, the means are different but the end goal is still the same, to clearly share a story, a moment, an experience, an idea.
When not mulling over these grandiose ideas, you can often find me out, paddle boarding, painting or hiking with my family. Or just eating a really fantastic meal. #illustration#storyboarding#art#storytelling#childrensbook#storyboard#pitch
