Mariela M. Martínez Correa is a fashion designer from San Juan, Puerto Rico and currently based in New York City. Before going to Parsons The New School for Design, she finished a bachelor's degree in Architectural Design at the School of Architecture, University of Puerto Rico where she was also pursuing an associate's degree in Fashion Design at CentroModa Escuela de Diseño Lisa Thon.  Her background has influenced her design aesthetic, working mostly on a digital platform and with a fond appreciation for unconventional materials as well as material manipulation on both womenswear and menswear. This has helped her receive awards such as becoming a member of the Design & Marketing Of Luxury Products Master Class for the Luxury Education Foundation in collaboration with Columbia Business School Students as well as being chosen for the Parsons Festival 2016 Exhibition, and given the opportunity to be featured at an employer networking/mixer that The New School will be hosting at Cannes Lions Festival 2016.
