Became Design Team Manager for the Interactive Channel, one of the first Web TV ventures in the late '90’s. Utilizing a customer’s cable set-top box, we created hyper-local content for many different subscriber-based markets. UI Design Lead for the entire look and feel of the Channel promoting ease of use and intuitive navigation. Limits of HTML at the time required a small throughput with maximum information. Before the web really took off, this was going to be the way you could order a pizza over your TV.
Next career led to CG Animated Feature films and TV shows using design skills honed in composition and layout. CG Rough Layout adds Time to the list of variables that direct Staging and Blocking of sequences. Line of Action must be followed to lead the viewer in the progression of the scene. Unlike Animation which will focus on one shot at a time, Rough Layout must plan the arc of the entire sequence so the story can develop. The best part of Rough Layout is being up front with the Director and getting your fingerprints into the story. Building the foundation of a great project so you can hand it off to the next department trusting it will get better as it goes along.
