Freelance Filmmaker for Digital Guide to the Chamber Orchestra project
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative freelance filmmaker to work on a major new digital project for Royal Northern Sinfonia and Sage Gateshead. The Digital Guide to the Chamber Orchestra (DGtCO) will begin as an online resource, aiming to deepen, renew and ignite audience engagement.

At this time, it is envisaged that this phase of the project will include a series of short 1-3-minute films, as well as two slightly longer 3-6-minute films. This is the work for which we are currently seeking a freelance filmmaker.

Key skills, knowledge and experience will include:

  • At least three years’ experience working as a filmmaker, with a proven ability to work independently
  • Creating and collaborating on storyboards, and contributing to idea generation
  • Working with creative partners to realise complex ideas
  • Planning and running shoots
  • Editing footage to a high standard, within brand guidelines
  • Recording audio from live performance, with post-production ability
  • Knowledge or experience of working within an arts environment, ideally with a music focus
  • A passion for music and understanding of live performance

The filmmaker will also be skilled at working with a diverse range of collaborators. They will be adept at interacting with a variety of different people including high-profile artists, senior arts figures and Sage Gateshead staff. Their ability to work effectively with collaborators will contribute to a positive and flexible working culture.

  • We will offer a fixed, competitive fee for this work, dependent on the successful candidate’s experience.
