Illustration for my Short Story

I am an engineer (in California) who enjoys writing and publishing science fiction as a hobby.

I have a specific short (science fiction) story that I want a cover illustration for. This story takes place in an “Old West” frontier type of environment, except on another planet with alien people (and visiting modern humans).

The story is 15,000 words, and you could read or scan it and find your own scene or concept to illustrate. (Notify me of your choice, just in case.) Or I could give you a couple of options. I plan to use the illustration for various uses so I will need something that can be cropped into various rectangular shapes for an ebook cover, audiobook cover, paperback cover, and computer game title screen.

I believe about 3000 pixels square at 300dpi (dots per inch) will do the trick.

Near-photographic quality is not expected. Artistic styling will be fine. Nothing abstract or too generic, please. I want the illustration to be specific to my story, where the reader could guess which characters or items in the illustration match which characters or items in the story.

As a separate project, I may want a series of illustrations for the software story adventure game based on this story, but I will decide whether to pursue that separately after this project. The additional project is not guaranteed to happen.
