Project Manager

Role Summary
This is a fixed term 12-month hybrid Project Manager / Business Analyst role for maternity cover. As this is hybrid role, the individual would be required to support the PMO on:

  • Project Management of ‘in flight’ projects following a handover from the permanent resource;
  • Project Management of new projects;
  • Business Analysis for new projects;
  • Ad-hoc support for the management of the Project Portfolio;
  • Handover of ‘in-flight’ project activity upon end of contract.

Project Management Key Responsibilities
-Develop, manage and lead projects by:

  • Adhering to the standards defined by the W/R/B Project Governance Framework;
  • Developing and managing project plans, taking into consideration the impact on other projects and business functions across the organisation;
  • Production of Project Proposals which define project scope, deliverables, budgets etc.;
  • Management of project resources, ensuring delegation of work, definition of timeframes and ensuring quality of outputs;
  • Management of project budgets, dependencies, risks and issues, reporting to stakeholders via Project Steering meetings and the monthly Project Governance forum;
  • Developing and implementing test plans to ensure successful delivery of projects;
  • Liaising with vendors and internal departments in order to raise issues and find appropriate solutions whilst maintaining strong vendor relationships;
  • Managing change requests, maintaining ownership from inception through to delivery.

Business Analyst Key Responsibilities
-Supporting the PMO in delivering projects by:

  • Adhering to the standards defined by the W/R/B Project Governance Framework;
  • Taking the lead role for bridging the gap between the Project Manager, - Technical resource (including vendors) and the business;
  • Conduct requirements elicitation and analysis with key business stakeholders / Subject Matter Experts in accordance with the scope of the project;
  • Documenting findings and validating outputs with the business;
  • Management of requirements throughout the duration of the project, ensuring requirements are within scope and budget of the project;
  • Understanding the impact of requirement solutions on other projects and business functions across the organisation;
  • Executing pre-release testing and supporting user acceptance testing and releasing to live, including the creation of test scripts and management of issues;
  • Providing training to the end user community where relevant;
  • Where required, documenting and updating existing user guides, training materials and data dictionaries.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
-As required by the department / business:

  • Ad-hoc support for the management of the Project Portfolio:
  • Assistance in tracking of risks, issues, budgets and dependencies across the project portfolio;
  • Attendance of resource, dependency and Project Governance meetings;
  • Assistance in defining the Project Portfolio for 2020, including project budgets;
  • Assistance in collating meeting packs for the Project Governance forum.
  • Handover of assigned project activity upon end of contract to permanent resource, including:
  • Overview of delivered projects, including Lessons Learnt;
  • Proficient handover of ‘in-flight’ project work to enable smooth transition.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years insurance experience, with strong Lloyd’s Market experience;
  • Strong Project Management / Business Analysis skills and systems background;
  • The ability to work effectively with IT technicians, software vendors and Underwriting staff;
  • Preferable experience with Sequel Business Solutions products;
  • Strong academic record with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
