Our organization is accepting proposals and capabilities statements from freelance graphic designers. We invite you to submit one for consideration. The ideal candidate will be located within the state of Florida and already familiar with the Museum of Arts & Sciences and our mission. A description of our organization, the services needed, and other pertinent information follows:

Background on the Museum of Arts & Sciences
The Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) is the primary art, science, and history museum in Central Florida. The area’s largest museum, MOAS is nationally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate. Located on a 90-acre Florida nature preserve, the facility hosts over 30,000 objects including the Dow Gallery of American Art, one of the finest collections of American art in the Southeast; the Schulte Gallery of Chinese Art; the Bouchelle Collection and Gallery of International Decorative Arts; the Cuban Foundation Museum, showcasing one of the most significant collections of Cuban paintings in the United States; the Prehistory of Florida Gallery featuring Florida’s Giant Ground Sloth skeleton, and the Root Family Museum displaying restored railroad cars, antique automobiles, and the largest collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia in Florida. The Helene B. Roberson Visible Storage Building exhibits thousands of objects from many donors which are owned by the Museum, while the Linda and Charles Williams Children’s Museum presents and interactive experience for children. A state-of-the-art planetarium and the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art showcasing the largest collection of Florida-based art in the world round out the areas to explore inside the Museum of Arts & Sciences.

The Marketing Department of the Museum currently seeks a freelance graphic designer to handle large scale design projects, developing event branding concepts, and branded collateral. Supplemental event collateral will be developed by the Museum based on the designers approved concept. Please note that the design/ownership/copyright and original source (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) files must remain with the Museum of Arts & Sciences and that all work product created as part of this project will be the property of the Museum of Arts & Sciences. Also, note that raw files will be requested by MOAS for the in-house creation of supplemental collateral.

Functional Requirements
The functional requirements of the contract may vary in length from month to month dependent upon the scope of the project. The summary below reflects the anticipated requirements for the remainder of 2019. Additions/subtractions may occur.

Scope of Work
The successful candidate will create branded event templates in various programs to be used and adapted for various communications by the MOAS staff. Graphics must be produced and presented in an electronic format that can be easily modified as necessary. The design must be adaptable for use in the production of print and online ads, digital and social media content, posters, and flyers.

The successful candidate will also be in charge of the design and layout of a quarterly magazine and newsletter (written content, materials, and publication template to be provided by MOAS).

The successful candidate will also assist with additional branded collateral including but not limited to annual reports, brochures, rack cards, and invitations. The successful candidate may be asked to edit existing graphic designs and collateral (using previously designed files).

Proposal Content
In order to simplify the evaluation process, the Museum of Arts & Sciences suggests that all responses to this request contain the following elements described below:

Describe your understanding of the work to be performed and your ability to perform the work.

Professional Experience
Provide qualifications for servicing and organization of similar size and operational structure. Specify any experience working with nonprofit organizations. Describe your resources/tools and provide copies of relevant work samples.

Qualifications
Identify specific designer(s) who will be assigned to this engagement. Provide bios specifying relevant experience to the type of services requested.

Fees
Please provide an estimate of fees (hourly and/or project-based) for the services to be provided. The price you quote should be inclusive of all fees. If your price excludes certain fees or charges, you must provide a detailed list of excluded fees with a complete explanation of the nature of those fees.

References
Include a list of the relevant clients served within the past five years and furnish the names and emails of any reference who we may contact (2-4 references).
