Was born in Soweto, attended 1st grade at Isaccson Primary in 1989 and was introduced to music by his father who was a music collector. His older brother got a tape deck and recorded his voice at the age of nine and this has fascinated him and it became a passion that has never faded ever since. Growing up, he was a typical Sowetan boy who listened to what was then called ‘International Music’ and was a fan a of Black Box & Real to Real. His favourite local Dj was Dj Dikgwele who spun cassettes and later on in 1994 he was introduced to Kwaito and Hiphop by his cousin who had collected artists like Heavy D & The boyz, Salt n Pepper & Nas. He immediately wished to study music but his parents convinced him to finish his matric first. He met Thando Mofokeng and together they started to record overdubs of on a JVC tape deck and a 45 key-Casio keyboard and that is where he learned to do the basics of cutting and pasting loops and lacing vocals. In 1999, a friend of his called Phafee, was returning from Germany and brought a load of music software’s like Hammerhead & Anvil Studio. A year later he was mesmerised with midi music programming and by the time he finished school, he was doing electronic music using to Fruity Loops pro V.1 and Cool Edit Pro. In 2001, he made his first radio appearance where he was performing on Oskido & Rude-boy Paul’s show on Y.FM. His song was quickly adopted as the theme track for Sprite Y.fm Rap Activity Jam Show & was aired for over 12 months. Gaining that little exposure inspired him to continue studying Music Technology at Parktown College where he was mentored by musicians such as Demor Sikhosana, Bheki Khoza and Simon Ntuli. In 2006, he suffered from ear infections and could no longer freely use headphones or listen to music for longer hours. He was adamant and could not give into his doctor’s orders and he was introduced to an entrepreneur Dicky Naidoo who brought him to work as a chief Sound Engineer at one of his studios which he later bought years after. After investing in a recording studio, he worked with lots of musicians including artists such as Bryce Anderson, Dj Sphiwe (Kaya.fm), Mzambiya and Rocio Starry (Spain). He is also the co-founder of the international group Afro Swis which were a crew made up of Joburg and Geneva emcees and poets. In 2007, he established OwnyOwn Music Group where he has since recruited and collaborated with beat-makers, song writers and performers such as Tumi Latrell, King Selpho, Blaque Jesus, TBZ Mafarma, de Original Careless, Sound Illusions and others. He met Pedro Stathoussis at House Afrika Records through Vinny da Vinci and was called by renowned Dj Christos Katsaitis to join their digital distribution network and then that is how his music was introduced to the world.
