Hello, I’m Yann Novak: a freelance designer and web developer based in Los Angeles. I have spent the last 19 years working with artists, musicians, and arts organizations to help them flourish in the digital space. I work with individuals and companies, both large and small, who are passionate about what they do in fine art, music, arts education, and other professional services. I develop long-term relationships, because a successful career or business isn’t built in a day and should last for years to come. My approach starts with an understanding that any creative project is both unique and complex. I deploy a flexible framework combining research and dialog to develop a meaningful understanding of any project with carefully crafted implementation of open-source digital solutions. I work directly with my clients, who normally hire me for: → Web Design → Front End Development → WordPress Consulting

Richelle Ellis is an expeditionary artist exploring planetary connectivity both on and off Earth. She needed a website that deepened her practices connection to networks though the design, as well as project pages that compile and contextualize her individual works connections to each other. #graphicdesigner #webdesigner #webdevelopment #designer
    uniE621 SUPERCOLLIDER
SUPERCOLLIDER creates immersive science+art experiences—including (inter)nationally curated satellites for pop-ups, festivals, and research institutes—that vividly reclaim our future and explode our present. My role was to utilize their exiting brand identity and rethink their site architecture to better articulate their multifaceted, citywide programming. #graphicdesigner #webdesigner #webdevelopment #designer
    uniE621 WFF
The Wilhelm Family Foundation’s mission is to help expand artists’ access to resources by supporting organizations working to make creative expression, experimentation, public programming, and discourse accessible to all people, artists and non-artists alike. My role was to give their existing branding a little refresh and then take it and design and develop their website from the ground up. They also needed to streamline and digitize their application process to make it as easy as possible for arts organizations to apply. #graphicdesigner #webdesigner #webdeveloper #designer #logo #illustrator #branding

Parag K. Mital is an artist and interdisciplinary researcher working between computational arts and machine learning. Parag needed a portfolio that was as dynamic as his practice. To achieve that we needed a website that could accommodate a variety of media including animated gifs and autoplaying Vimeo embeds, so the site would instantly communicate the dynamic nature of his practice. My role was to design and develop a WordPress theme that supported these media needs and was sleek and minimal to perfectly frame all the dynamic content without introducing any clutter or distractions. #graphicdesigner #webdesigner #webdeveloper #designer
    uniE621 ASAP
The Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present is an international, nonprofit association dedicated to discovering and articulating the aesthetic, cultural, ethical, and political identities of the contemporary arts. ASAP needed a new website that was more inline with their existing brand identity and would be easier for their rotating volunteer board to manage and update. To achieve this we designed a custom WordPress theme from the ground up using their existing logo as the focal point. When we got to developing the site we used a combination of custom fields and stripped down the WordPress block editor to make updating the site as easy as possible. #graphicdesigner #webdesigner #webdeveloper #designer
    uniE621 ASAP/J
ASAP/J is one of the scholarly publications of the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present, along with the print publication ASAP/Journal. Like the association and print journal it serves, ASAP/J explores new developments in a variety of post-1960 arts, including writing, plastic and visual arts, digital arts, music and sound art, performance, architecture and design, mixed media and intermedia arts. ASAP/J needed a new website that was more inline with their existing brand identity and would allow users to better navigate their vast array of articles and topics. Additionally they needed the site to support their archive of articles published pre-Gothenburg and allow them to start taking advantage of the benefits of Gothenburg moving forward. To achieve this we built a hybrid WordPress theme that supported articles published with both editors using a simple toggle. #graphicdesigner #webdesigner #webdeveloper #designer
