By An Ion is a duo composed of Ray Aguilar and Alex Gonzales. Merging the worlds of ambient synth and contemporary music, they are able to create a sound that echoes their melody driven vocals. Dreamy, and cinematic at times, the music speaks of personal and relative topics to the listener. Both members have a similar yet distinct sound to their vocals, which makes the music that more interesting. Ray Aguilar has dabbled on solo work in the past and fronted the indie electronic band Broadcasting Sirens in which he shared the stage with Alex gonzales who was then the drummer for a number of years. Alex Gonzales fronted a band of his own in the past named Sleep Paralysis and is currently the drummer for indie-synth pop band The New Division. Both Ray and Alex have spoken of their chemistry in the studio and compare it to literally finishing each others sentences.The heavy use of synth pads and reverb give the music a dreamy and angelic ambiance without shying away from the sometimes abrasive electronic drums. although they fill in every side of the spectrum with their music, it always keeps a balance that us rooted by their empathetic songwriting . They have worked in the studio along side with The New Division's John Kunkel and Spanish Synth Pop artist Sergio Palacios from Puerto Aereo.
