In my 20s I spent a lot of time travelling the world and learning different styles of music. I explored and became proficient in middle eastern music, Roma, klezmer, Appalachian, Scandinavian, Persian, Celtic, jazz manouche, etc. I kept the bills paid by performing and touring with various pop and rock bands. I also made a living recording string arrangements when I wasn't travelling. I have a strong classical background in my compositions and improvisations and was classically trained in Violin from age 8. I have around 5 years experience as a composer, and 20 years experience as a studio and session musician. In 2018, I started working in video game soundtracks and found it to be a real passion. I love creating ambient sounds and textures with my compositions. I was also thrilled at the challenge of structuring my compositions in a more modular, interchangeable fashion to allow for the player to have a more interactive musical experience while moving around a game environment. The ability to trigger different elements and musical themes as they entered new environments enhances narrative and the implied history of the areas and characters. Things like this really matter to me as I have played video games at many junctures in my life, and found the story intermingling with the music to be one of the things I enjoyed most about the experience. I layer my compositions using violin, viola, cello, lyre harp, flutes, piano, classical guitar, tracks. Often including samples, synthesizer, nature noises and percussion instruments for a more organic feel. I also love mixing genres, fusing electronica with classical or world music for a more impactful and cinematic feel. I am proficient in using Logic X, and have 15 years experience on the platform. I am able to do my own editing, mixing and producing my own compositions. My studio is equipped with: UA Apollo Twin MK2, AKG microphones 88key Arturia Key lab MK2 midi controller workstation Arturia MicroFreak synthesizer Extensive industry standard sample libraries and emulators including the latest version of Native Instruments Kontakt 7, Arturia Analog Lab 5, Pigments, Izotope iris, Collections by Spitfire Audio Arturia FX collection Izotope Plugins. I am currently taking the wwise training course and am hoping to learn how to implement my own music and sounds by later this year. I work part time for a Digital Asset Management (PIM, MAM, DAM) Company as a UI designer, and product Manager. This work has been a huge compliment to my ability to structure my work in music and worth mentioning. I feel the added technical training has been an asset in many parts of my life. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me and lets talk!

uniE603 Video Game Soundtrack 6 Hour Mockup Session
I created this exercise as a way to push myself and get an idea of how fast I could create something and still maintain good quality. I performed all of the instrumentation and all of the audio mixing, engineering and production duties myself. The exercise was to write as many musical ideas in as short a period of time as possible. I had lunch, then got to work in the studio for 6 hours including editing and mixing. I just let my creativity run the show. These are some of the highlights that I came out with from my session. My process is usually quite similar when It comes to composition. I will meet with the Creative Director or a Producer of a video game and they will share the general plot, aesthetic and narrative of a video game. It doesn’t need to be complete, just a few pictures or photos and a general idea of the story will do. As a way to break the ice musically, I can do one of these speed composition sessions as a mockup or sample. Then meet again with the team to discuss what they liked. After the general tone of the music is decided upon and the narrative is refined, the real work starts and I start submitting finished compositions.
