Sibusiso Blani (born 24 February ****), best known by his stage name Gpaul is a South African hip-hop Artists-songwriter. He started singing in his school’s choir when He was 10 years old, and at the age of 15 He started to compose his own songs, than in 2005 he released his first single track titled “Father Bless Me” Produced by Deejay Bofesti. He found his love for music still in his tender years of childhood. Known for his impeccable punch lines and multi-rhythmic pattern flow, he found his inspiration for music through a compendium of multinational music genres such as American Hip Hop and South African Kwaito Music.
Gpaul began his career as a member of MSG Crew and later found fame with the influential of style called “Swag Ye Vernacular”. His 2007 solo debut EP, released under Hobinoland Productions, led him to become one of the best-Hip hop artist & performing artists. His producing career started in 2009 and due to that he did not attend any music school or obtained “qualified” certification as Music Producer he pushed the boundaries none stop to proof his merit. Today Gpaul is the founder and owner of record label PRO SOUNDS MUSIQ (ltd) Pty He is the founder and current Chief Executive Officer of Pro Sounds Musiq. Gpaul was previously the co- owner and artist of Psycho Records. He has produced albums for and overseen the careers of many musicians.
Early life Gpaul was born as Sibusiso Blani in Durban and he grow up. In Underberg, Indawane Eastern Cape, South Africa Where he lived with his parents Italian Princess Joyce Simamane and Lebohang Blani and his gran Mother Mahlapi Jesta Maphorhe Blani. He displayed his love for singing at the age of age 10. He first came to wider attention when He was in school choir Competition at Esikhawini in year 2000. His stage name means “small” or “humble” in Latin"; as a child He was known by the nickname “S’mamfuza”.
Music career His music is classified loosely as " Golden Age Hip Hop " and He rap in his native language, IsiZulu, as well as in English. His music has been described as a mixture between the styles that have been popularized by Zulu Boy and Skwatta Kamp . Gpaul’s Mixtape Deadly Ground vol1 was released in 2008. The first issue sold out within 7 Months " 500 copies". In 2010 he established his own record label, Pro Sounds Musiq. He produced a compilation Mixtape titled ‘Deadly Ground’ in 2012, and released album titled ‘Salvation’. he focused on production for other artists, while occasionally contributing vocals to songs.
2013 proved to be an exceptional year for Gpaul, having released his debut mixtape titled, “Deadly Ground vol2". Known for the hit single, “Running & Swagg Ye-Vernacular” which aired on various radio stations across the country for a prolonged period of time.
On the 3rd of March 2015 he was discovered by Music House KZN and Vezikhono Talent search in partnership with Ilembe District Municipality and he got a recording deal of 3 songs .
On the 13th of December 2014, He came the 1st Prince of Mr and Miss Dolphin Coast 2014. on the 27th of December 2014 At Blythdale (Stanger Beach Festival), he was the judge for Miss KwaDukuza Youth pageant. He walked away with Mr New Groutville top model title 2013, Face of M.Shade for two years in a raw. He have showcased in Pietermaritzburg GOLDEN HORSE FASHION SHOW 2014, Brigde City: 2014 DURBAN BUSINESS FAIR, STANGER WINTER FAIR 2014, Clairwood rising sun 2014 and VODACOM DURBAN JULY 2014, Modelling for M.Shade also known as Mthunzi Freedom Mthembu (KZN Fashion Council) and was then featured in the Ballito Fever magazine as a local boy entering into Mr and Miss Ballito Dolphin Coast 2014. He got nominated on ILEMBE LIFE CHANGERS AWARDS 2015 for the ‘BEST HIP-HOP ARTIST’
The musical project proved to be an overwhelming success, leading to the emergence and arrival of Gpaul in the industry. Having performed and shared the stage with the likes of Zola, BIG NUZ, Dj Tira, Dj Oskido, Professor, Siya Shezi, DJ Euphonic, Busiswa, Msawawa, Abdus, Zakwe, Duncan, Pro, Mfikiseni Magubane, Da Brodaz from Nigeria, Crax from swaziland and Zulu Boy he no doubt has the talent for all to see.
In March/2015 he released his 1st single for his upcoming album called “Summer Time” which is also doing very great all over South Africa and it is an introduction to his first album that he is currently working on. His single is getting aired on Nanda FM and Ukhozi fm radio station.
