Hi I’m Hannah!
I’m a digital illustrator from the UK, with a passion for design and digital art.
My work has included illustrating three children’s books for children aged 3 – 7. The first of these books, (‘Sockbeast!’ written by Nik Arkham) I completed alongside my studies at university. The professional relationship I have developed with Nik has been extremely positive, and rewarding. Since its publication in 2019 Sockbeast’s success has led to its adaptation into teaching resources for schools across Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The second book ‘Magpiper’ was completed in 2020 and. The third in the trilogy ‘Invasion of the Dustbunnies’ was completed in 2021. This role has allowed me to stay updated with current software packages and techniques, and to develop my skill within the subject.
I was also solely responsible for the delivery of Digital Arts to children aged 6 - 13, with an emphasis on animation at Heath Mount School in Hertfordshire. My work within the school has involved me in multiple aspects of students’ education including weekly animation workshops to develop the potential of students who show a keen interest in the subject.
Within this role I have worked closely with the other members of my department innovating the curriculum, and adapting it to suit all levels of digital learning. Since my arrival I have received strong, positive feedback from parents and teaching staff alike, and was also recognised by the National Gallery when my extra-curricular students entered their Age of Revolution animation competition in 2019, and won. As part of the prize, my students’ film will feature on Dan Snow’s History Hit TV, and featured on the National Gallery’s Age of Revolution website.
As well as assisting in the delivery of three Digital Animation modules at the University of Hertfordshire (Concept Art, Character Design and Motion Graphics) I was recognised for my professionalism and strong work ethic, and was involved in funded learning and teaching endeavours within the School of Creative Arts. I researched and materialised resources to aid students studying within Creative Arts, when writing for their Critical and Contextual Studies. These resources included posters, and a series of illustrated flash cards tailored to the branding of the university, and allowed me to engage in school activity beyond my chosen course. My relationship with the university continues as a visiting lecturer on their short courses program (Digital illustration and Comic Creation), however I am looking to pursue other creative challenges alongside this part time role.
