I'm an award-winning freelance photojournalist and editorial photographer based in Vancouver. I've had a wealth of real-world experience in various photographic disciplines, including travel, journalism, and sports, For three straight summers I photographed for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, capturing everything from mountain biking and wakeboarding to group shots and candid portraits. For three months I traveled around Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan working as a photographer with a non-profit. During my nearly three years at the Yukon News I worked on daily assignments and captured the heart of the community. While at the paper, I earned eight first-place awards between the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards and the BC/Yukon Community Newspaper Awards. I've woken up well before daybreak, walked kilometres in the pouring rain, camped out in mosquito-infested forests, dangled from cliffs, hung out of helicopters and airplanes, was towed behind a speedboat, weaved my way through crowds of thousands, made friends with peanut farmers, and overcame my fear of talking to strangers. All for the shot. Challenges and dynamic situations are what fuel my creative engine. Creating engaging and emotive images is not the only thing I love doing. I also enjoy exploring the Canadian wilderness at my family's cabin, throwing a frisbee on the beach, and making a great cup of chai.
