uniE621 London Festival of Architecture 2020
The London Festival of Architecture (LFA) and The Royal Docks Team (RDT) invite architecture and design students, recent graduates and emerging practitioners to create one of several public benches, to be installed in the public realm of the Royal Docks. The competition brief asked for a design proposal for a bench to be installed in the public realm of the Royal Docks as a place to sit, rest and play in autumn 2019. Inspired by the idea of industrialization and human development, Royal Breath emerges as an industrial and modular element which, combining its different pieces, creates a component in itself. The volume winds up from the ground looking towards the water, as an urban lighthousewhere time stops. Although it is a playful and sculptural form, it invites for a contemplative rest. It is concieved as a milestone that shines and catches the attention of the pedestrian who roams the streets and does not capture the place and its history. Its golden color coating gives it its own royal character to stand out in the place and reflect the environment. Pews & Perches Competition | Oct 2019 | Team #photo #designer #architecture #furniture
