Ita Alexander Akpan-Ita (born May 5th, 1990), better known as Lexisugar, is a Nigerian virtuoso record producer, musician, singer-songwriter, music consultant and CEO of Lexisugar Music Group. Born in Ibadan, Oyo state Nigeria and the first of four children, Lexisugar got his first piano when he was 2 years old. Already recognizing sounds and musical instruments from a very tender age, he learnt music faster than usual and ended up turning it into a career!
Graduate of Covenant University Nigeria, with Bachelors in Psychology and a degree in Music Production and Studio Engineering from Recording Connection NY, USA; He started his music career in 2011 Brooklyn NY, in the corner of a small living room on sony computer and fruityloops DAW.
While attending school, he began playing gigs around the country with various artist and getting exposure to the “outside world” of music; played with American Idol’s runner up Jesse Idol from New York; Brave Boi Music Group from Brooklyn NY (a band in which lexisugar worked as a record producer and bass guitar player); International award winning entertainer D’banj and the entire Mohits crew (as bass player on New York 2012 tour); Nigerian Gospel Group Midnight crew, 2011, Sonnie Badu just to mention a few.
Along the line, Lexi moved to Maryland where he began producing and recording more records with local artists and international artists such as, the talented Nigerian rapper Falz (story-teller), International recording artist Seyi Shay (lexisugar produced ‘Loud’ on the ‘seyi or shay’ album), Hameed & Tnayah from Maryland, USA (reach the stars), and a host of others.
He also joined a jazz and contemporary band called ‘The Exponent’, and has been privileged to play in front of mayors, governors of states and other dignitaries. He has played at many places, including the famous ‘Baltimore Casino’, the ‘Smithsonian’ in Washington DC, and others.
He also has a few recording artists under his music group whom he manages in terms of music and creativity.
Lexisugar’s vision for the music industry is to break through genres, infusing the afro-contemporary sound into today’s music. He also takes pride in helping the less privileged but musically talented individuals in his community to seeing their dreams come true. Confident and charismatic, his goal is to blow the listener’s mind and make them move to the beat. On a personal side, he’s a soccer fanatic! TEAM MANCHESTER UNITED!!!
