Pansil (Panos Vasilonikolos) was born in Athens. He was curious and interested about the sounds of music from the very early years of his life. He started his musical studies at the age of 4 by learning classical piano, but his passion for percussion won and since the early age of 5 he began his formal education in the local conservatory. His love of the drum set and percussion continued throughout high school and into college. He studied classical percussion. He has performed in many concerts around europe. Additionally, his passion for education has made him a very successful instructor. He started playing music at local bars as a dj or as a percussionist from his early years. Panos studied music education and composition at the Ionian University and continued his studies with his master’s degree in classical percussion. His influences include Steve Reich, Ney Rosauro, Iannis Xenakis, Peter Sadlo, Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Steve Smith, Max Weinberg, Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart. At the same time, he had his own radio broadcast at a corfiot radio station called Starfm for 6 continuous years. At the Ionian island he made his own series of parties & he was djing all over the island. Moreover, he was a resident dj at quite a few clubs there & had musical experiences along with international dj’s such as Sasha, Sandy Rivera, Satoshi Tomiie, Dubfire, Antony Pappa, Sultan, Chus & Ceballos, Steve Lawler etc. When he returned back in Athens he begun to work as a professional percussionist & dj. He had a few residencies at famous nightclubs across Athens such as Glow, Balux, Blur, Klik, Deja vu, Galea, NV etc. Also, he has a Master degree at Kapodistrian University of Athens in anthropological approaches of music, more specifically, his research is about Dj’s Culture.…Pansil (Panos Vasilonikolos) was born in Athens.
