His persistent determination to improve every aspect of his art and painstaking attention to storytelling allows him to create organic music that enhances the vision of a most demanding filmmaker. He believes that perfection is lots of small things done right. He attended UCLA Extension Film Scoring Program, where he had a chance to meet the top composers in the field and to learn from the composers of the “Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Scary Movie 3,” “Invasion America,” as well as from the orchestrators of today’s triple AAA projects. While helping out Darren Fung on the Cinema of Sleep (coming 2020) and Equus in Concert (to be premiered in Canada). He was elected from a vast pool of contenders to take part in​ the SESAC workshop headed by Danny Lux and Christophe Beck in 2019. While at the Purcell School of Music in the UK, he was pleasantly surprised to win first place at the EPTA UK 2008 composers competition and the cup for the most outstanding composition in the competition. Akhmet graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London in piano performance. His piano career includes solo recitals at the Southbank Centre in London, Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, The Purcell School of Music, Manchester during the Scarlatti Festival and in remote locations across the UK and Kazakhstan. He participated in various masterclasses where he played for the world-class pianists. An avid cook, Akhmet draws parallels between two similar and great arts. He resides in Los Angeles.
