Katrina Zemrak is an award-winning composer of over fifty independent short films, a handful of podcasts, and three feature films. Feature films that she has composed for include “Two Lives In Pittsburgh,” which won the 2023 Audience Award at Dances with Films in LA, and the animated musical fairy tale, “Bongee Bear and the Kingdom of Rhythm,” which was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2019 Palm Springs Animation Convention.
Katrina also worked as a music editor, sound designer, and composer assistant for Nickelodeon’s “The Casagrandes” and “The Loud House” for three years from 2019 to 2022. While working on the shows she also had the incredible opportunity to compose for “The Loud House” and “The Casagrandes” short films.
Pieces by Katrina have been recorded by large orchestras based in Los Angeles and Chicago, and her piece “Many, Many Clementines” was recorded and broadcast by Chicago’s classical radio station, WFMT, in 2014.
Outside of composing, she has sound designed for short films, commercials, features, and docs, as well as for many podcasts such as ‘Earthbreak,’ ‘History Daily,’ ‘American Scandal,’ ‘Business Movers,’ ‘Tides of History,’ and ‘American Criminal.’ In 2022, Katrina received the award of “Best Sound Design” from the Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles for the horror short film “The Mannequin Man” directed by Kip Knight.
Katrina received an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago in 2017 and currently lives in Los Angeles. She was born and raised in the small town of Winslow, Maine.
Since 2012, Katrina has also run the California Independent Film Festival International Film Scoring Competition based in the San Francisco area.
