uniE621 Rota by Rachio: Increasing water conservation and making irrigation simpler via a free mobile app
Through my Master's of Human-Computer Interaction and Design program at the University of California, Irvine, I had the opportunity to work with Rachio on a real-world internship project that spanned six months. Our main objective was to design an educational watering application that could be easily accessed without the need for specific devices or tools. As the lead user experience #uxdesigner and user interface #uidesigner, as well as the project manager of the student group, I was tasked with a range of responsibilities. These included managing the project using Asana and Slack, taking minutes during team meetings, conducting user research, creating wireframes, designing user interfaces using Figma, and developing low-, mid-, and high-fidelity prototypes on #Figma. Overall, it was an incredibly rewarding experience that allowed me to gain valuable insights into #userexperience and #projectmanagement.
uniE621 My Fruit Stand: Tablet Game Concept for Teaching Children Financial Literacy
Problem: How might we... Educate children aged 6 to 10 on crucial financial literacy concepts through technology in a fun and engaging way to create financially confident future adults? Solution: A mobile tablet game called "My Fruit Stand" designed to teach children financial literacy by actively participating in the economic simulation of running their own fruit stand. They will learn the concepts of saving and spending by ordering and selling inventory for their fruit stand. The more they save, the greater the variety of fruits they can buy wholesale and sell for a profit! Throughout the duration of this project, I was presented with a remarkable opportunity to enhance my skillset in designing a tablet game application and developing engaging experiences that are tailored to teach young children important concepts in a fun and appealing way. The project provided me with a unique learning experience which enabled me to gain valuable insights into the intricacies of developing mobile games, particularly those aimed at young children. All in all, this project was a gratifying experience, and I eagerly anticipate applying the knowledge I acquired in upcoming projects. If I were to continue working on this project, my next step would involve conducting thorough evaluative user research with children between the ages of 6 and 10. This research would include various testing techniques, such as card sorting and qualitative usability testing. By examining and understanding the experiences and perspectives of children in the targeted age range, I can identify areas for improvement in the design and make necessary changes to create an exciting and engaging tablet game. This research would also help me make informed decisions based on user preferences and behaviors, ultimately leading to a more effective and user-friendly design for young children. #designer #graphicdesigner #branding #uxdesign #uidesign
uniE621 SolTrack: AI-Powered Smart Watch Application Concept to Combat Vitamin D Deficiency
Problem: How might we... Help people with a Vitamin D deficiency receive the recommended amount of direct sunlight or imitation sunlight daily through wearable AI technology? Solution: An AI-powered smart watch application called SolTrack that tracks the user's exposure to natural and artificial sunlight via UVB-emitting lamps to combat Vitamin D deficiency. This project was a great learning experience for me and allowed me to design for a device that I had not worked on before. I gained valuable insights into designing for wearable technology and became familiar with the best practices for interface design for smartwatches and watchOS. Moreover, I gained valuable insight into the significance of incorporating health-related concerns into #UXdesign #uidesign. This understanding highlighted the need to prioritize user experience regarding health issues and how it can positively impact the overall well-being of individuals. If I could continue working on this project, my next step would be to conduct evaluative user research using various testing methods, including qualitative usability testing, surveys, and tree testing. Obtaining access to genuine feedback and insights provided by actual users would be immensely helpful in facilitating the process of further improvements to the design. By analyzing and understanding users' experiences and opinions, I would be able to identify areas for enhancement and make the necessary changes to create a better product. #designer #branding #graphicdesigner
