    uniE621 CIC Angels Website
CIC Angels is an angel investor syndicate that empowers exceptional founders to serve missions that are greater than themselves. After working with Brooks Design to build a democratic, collaborative, and transparent brand, CIC came back for a website to expand their online presence and create a method for potential partners and portfolio companies to reach out. Goals: Unique Landing Site: Create a distinctive landing site that highlights CIC's commitment to supporting early-stage startups and emphasizes the importance of the people behind these investments. Brand Continuity: Ensure that the website maintains the same colors and styles as CIC's existing brand, creating a cohesive brand language. Expand Online Presence: Enhance CIC's online presence and reach by providing useful information and means of contact for potential investment partners and portfolio companies. Process: Brand Identity Alignment: We closely adhered to CIC's brand identity that we previously established, ensuring a cohesive brand language. Elegant Interactions: We focused on designing elegant site interactions to engage users and convey the professionalism and empathy that CIC represents. Brand-specific Copy: We crafted brand-specific copy that captures the voice and tone reflecting CIC's values of community empathy, transparency, collaboration, and efficiency. Unique Site Elements: To draw attention to the people behind CIC's portfolio companies, we created a custom video montage of the portfolio company founders serving their industries. To further spotlight the founders, we designed brand-coded company cards with the faces of the founders at the forefront. Special attention like using the names of the founders, not just the company names, and creating artful company cards helps potential investors get to know the portfolio companies and their founders at a glance. Results: The CIC website redesign project has achieved significant success. CIC received multiple inquiries through website traffic within days of publishing, and has successfully invested in two new companies since the launch of the redesigned website. The new website effectively reflects CIC's mission, values, and commitment to solving meaningful problems. It establishes a strong online presence and expands CIC's reach, setting the stage for future growth and engagement. uniE621 Capsula UX & UI Design
Capsula is a one-stop shop for capturing life's greatest events, organizing and categorizing multiple types of media, and sharing it with the people who actually care. Without Capsula, users rely on their photo libraries or brick-and-mortar albums to archive their most prized memories. Users are constantly buying more storage space, spending too much time searching for one specific photo, and being crushed by the harmful effects of traditional social media. In order to facilitate meaningful connections and help users organize their most important memories, Capsula invested in a project to create a private media sharing experience that appeals to multigenerational users. Goals: Our goals were to deliver an intuitive experience for creating rewarding memories with minimal effort, build a desktop companion to the existing mobile app that prioritizes the needs of mature users, lean further into the organizational element on desktop than mobile, and maintain the same quality of experience for both mobile and desktop users. Process: To achieve these goals, our first step was to address a prominent pain point within the mobile app: excessive keystrokes in memory creation. Based on user feedback, we reduced the number of keystrokes needed to create a memory by pulling data such as the date and. location from the imported media and auto-filling input fields that users originally needed to populate manually. In order to maintain ease of use across generations, we created a desktop app to be used in conjunction with the existing mobile app. Most users agreed that older generations would gravitate toward the desktop version. Based on this feedback, we equipped the desktop app with large buttons, content resizing options, and text-based navigation items for added clarity. Desktop users also reported more interest in detailed organization, sorting, and filtering of media. We designed an intelligent filtering system on desktop for users to find specific media, memories, and capsules at a single click. Results: The end result of this project is a cohesive mobile and desktop duo that empowers multiple generations of users to document meaningful memories with ease. This includes uploading multiple types of media, filtering through media by date, location, person, and media type, and connecting over memories with select people that users have invited to their circles. uniE621 HyperLocal UX & UI Design
HyperLocal is an indoor navigation app for college campus buildings that promotes efficiency and anxiety management for Neurodivergent students. Most college students, but particularly the Neurodivergent, are easily affected by the social anxiety of looking lost, staring at a map for "too long", or asking for directions. While outdoor navigation systems are rapidly advancing, most college campuses still have no public system of indoor navigation for their larger and more complex buildings. Furthermore, the few maps that exist at building entrances are cluttered, complicated, and cause information overload for Neurodivergent students. HyperLocal reduces anxiety by automating a big part of the students' daily routines and provided a user-informed, constantly-updated record of accessibility across college campus buildings. Goals: Our goals were to create a standardized, comprehensive, discreet, and up-to-date indoor navigation system for UMass Amherst campus buildings. We also planned to reduce the negative effects of decision-making for Neurodivergent folks, which include time inefficiency, information overload, and decreased student performance. We aimed to reduce Spotlight Effects (the perceived judgment of others) in Neurodivergent students, and give students with disabilities a navigation system they can trust by implementing a system of user-reported route and access updates. Process: To achieve these goals, we began by conducting interviews with Neurodivergent students, which identified pain points and areas for improvement in the current process. Most users agreed that the lack of systemization within campus buildings causes confusion, social anxiety, makes them late for exams and meetings, and decreases their academic performance over time. Based on this feedback, we built a navigation interface that utilizes the user's phone camera for precise wayfinding in real time. We intentionally chose clear language for the directions to eliminate confusion (ex: "the third door on your right" vs. "in 500 feet"). We designed several accessibility settings including multiple color themes for color blindness, options to enable or disable audio directions, wheelchair-accessible routes, and routes that avoid crowds. Finally, users can save frequent routes for single-tap navigation and are encouraged to submit their own routes and report when they notice an accessibility outage. Results: HyperLocal received positive feedback during usability testing. Testers agreed that more nuanced accessibility features such as avoiding crowds... uniE621 Apoth Website + Brand
Live site: https://www.twine.net/signin Overview Apoth integrates behavioral and biometric data to facilitate real-time methodologies and longitudinal research.  Apoth worked with me on a web design project to increase their online reach, convey a professional, empathetic, and pioneering brand face, and to get researchers excited about using Apoth's tools. Goals Give credibility to the Apoth brand: As a company that works with confidential patient healthcare data, Apoth needs to be seen as highly credible and secure in order to convert customers. For this reason, I emphasized hard evidence to this point, including testimonials from current users, HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance badges, team member qualifications, and published studies that have employed Apoth tools. Scalability as they develop new tools: Apoth offers several products, and plans to grow. I intentionally designed the site layout to accommodate future updates. For example, the product carousel on the home page can easily have cards duplicated, images and text swapped out, and the site will be up-to-date again in about five minutes. "The Apple of mental health research tools": Apoth builds tools that get the job done, are a joy to use, and look good while doing it. To be authentic, this brand has to come through on all platforms. That's why the visual design throughout the site is clean, calming, uncluttered, and unpretentious. Process We started with a ground-up brand design, which identified Apoth's goals, strengths, weaknesses, ideal customers, etc. Getting granular here helped the site come together quickly. Then we translated our answers from the brand work into a visual language. What does a pioneering, efficient, and accredited tool look like? To Apoth, it looks like elegant product mockups, graceful site interactions, lightweight text, breathing room between information sections, and no unnecessary graphics. Finally, we focused on ease of use. The mobile version gives an equally full viewing experience, the site meets accessibility best practices, search visibility is optimized, the navigation makes sense and is easy to access, and there's no unnecessary clutter. Results Apoth launched recently and has received positive feedback on the site! We remain in contact for any edits that may pop up. webdesigner branding graphicdesigner designer logo
