An updated logo

We are a health specialist organisation who, in our current format, have been established just over a year. At the start of our journey, we threw together the company which including our branding and identify. At the heart of this was our logo which since its creation has been used across multiple channels and formats (emails, websites, business card, client materials, social profiles, presentations and so on). Because of the colours used on the logo we have ended up with several versions of logo which have then been used without consistency across these channels.

We are now at a point that we want to do the following:

• Bring all versions of the logo into line
• Change the base colours of the logo so we don’t always have to have it sat on a black background.
• Help make the strapline work better with the main logo

Put quite simply, we are an innovative healthcare company, doing a number of ‘firsts’ and we need a modern, fresh, clean logo that reflects our identity.

Previous, specific, negative comments about the logo are:

• It is hard to use when on a white background which most of our documents are. We previousl had to add a black lozenge as a background
• Current version doesn’t have a lot of depth and doesn’t stand out vs other logos
• Current version uses a fairly mundance typeface. I’m also not sure it is the same typeface that is used for the strapline.
• Because of the ‘heartbeat’ graphic that runs into the ‘P’ of Pulse, it doesn’t have a lot of symmetry or balance to it. Emphasis is on the wrong area because of this and the colours used
• Overall, it looks more complex that it needs to be.

To respond to the brief, I am happy to see a variety of ideas. I probably don’t see us moving away from our basic colour pallete of black, blue, white and possibly grey. I just need to make sure the logo works on a white background. We’ve seen other options but very few of them have hit the spot.

Final output, if it works for us, will be the artwork files of the logo
