Contract : Temporary

(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce creative designs and visually compelling materials for a wide variety of print and digital projects, including, brochures and publications, product illustrations, logos, promotional displays, event promotion items, websites, etc. Materials may include but is not limited to flyers, brochures, postcards, websites, electronic messaging, etc.
  • Plan and develop design strategies, themes and options to reach targeted audience for key projects, and present recommended design options to clients, along with formats, costs, schedules, etc.
  • Maintain University and Advancement Engagement branding, style guide, graphic identity, and ensure design consistency and quality.

COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

INTERACTS WITH

  • Graphics Coordinator/Editors/Clients - in order to receive, formulate, coordinate and provide project information.
  • Design Staff/Student Employees/Support Staff/Outside Vendors - in order to coordinate and check individual assignments.
  • Printing Representatives - in order to discuss job specifications and check on job status.
  • Paper Company Representatives - in order to select paper stock.
  • Specialists/Administrators/Information Services Staff/Co- workers - in order to exchange information.
  • Volunteers - in order to provide information.
  • Photographers - in order to discuss and/or supervise photography needed for projects.
  • Purchasing Personnel - in order to order products.
  • Business Office Personnel - in order to maintain correct billing and administrative information.
  • Computer Office Personnel - in order to coordinate applications of computer usage.
  • Newspaper Representatives - in order to order space for display advertising.
  • Television Crews - in order to coordinate production.

Desired Qualifications

The job requires: knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Graphic or Advertising Design or Commercial Art; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience in printing, typography, photography, electronic prepress, printing processes such as pre-flighting electronic files, prepress software applications, designing, typesetting and printing artwork, computer graphics and web page design software, the properties and uses of art materials and technical drawing and layout, ability to investigate and solve or recommend solutions to technical problems relating to electronic prepress; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
